04/03/2013 Kick back and relax

Typewriter was a surprise hit
After a manic start to my day our home ed session this week was surprisingly calm and relaxing. Crafts were brought out but, overall, were ignored in favour of play and chat. There were some great paintings created, amazing domino runs set up and lots of tapping away on the typewriter.

Xbox encouraged chat yet again.
The older children played too but also took time out to make baking plans, it sounds as if there will be a 'bake off' at some point in the future.

We have a change of pace for the next session coming up on the 18th March. A representative from WaterAid will be joining us and will run two workshops. The first will be aimed at primary aged children and will be followed by a second one for older children. We are not planning any craft activities but will still have the toys and games out for the younger children to enjoy. Please do join us for what promises to be a fascinating morning.

Edit: I have a little more information on the workshops. This is not set yet but it is likely to be along the following lines:
1045 - 1115:   Age range about 5-8.  Possibly four phases of activity, including showing a few images to illustrate the points we are covering.  Attempt to keep children active for about 2/3 of the time. Parents in attendance will assist.  Everything pretty flexible.
1115 - 1200:  might overrun a bit.  Age range about 9 - 16.  Possibly 3 or 4 phases of activity, including working in pairs or small groups on specific tasks and reporting back to the whole group.  Otherwise as above.
