26/11/2013 Advent and Picasso

Hama beads
We had a busy day today, four different crafts and lots of free play. A few of the children took advantage of the Hama beads to have some quiet, focused time.

Advent candles
Advent candles were made, this photo doesn't do them justice, the tapers have been decorated with metallic pens and dashes were drawn down the side to show the countdown to Christmas. For the base a small amount of air-dry clay was used.
Advent chain
Advent chain
Another advent activity, this time advent chains. The tops are decorated using old cards, stamps and pens. One loop is attached to the card and twenty four more are looped together from the first to make a chain. Each day in December one loop is removed.

This last activity was inspired by Picasso's work but the children gave it their own individual twist resulting in some very creative pieces.

The final session this year will take place on the 10th December, please bring a few nibbles to share for our Christmas get together. Activities will be Holiday related, if you have anything seasonal that would be good for making decorations/cards please bring them. Warning: we will have the glitter out!
