21/10/2014 Halloween madness

Potion ingredients
Experimental potions were made from a choice of many ingredients including ice cream, biscuits and chocolate. Some were great and others were best described as... interesting.

Hats to decorate
We decorated some simple witches hats. These are made using two painted paper plates as the rim and construction/sugar paper for the point. I love paper plate crafts, they always seem to be so easy to prepare and do.

Hama beads
Halloween Hama bead patterns
The hama beads came out for creating drink coasters with a spooky theme.

And, of course, lots of dressing up.

Even the sensory box had autumnal twist with conkers and lots of bats.

04/11/2014 Firework fun

This was a very crafty week for us. We all seemed to have just recovered from coughs, colds and other illnesses so it was a slightly subdued session but still fun.

Paint came out this week. We tried what looked like some great glitter paint for fire work pictures only to discover that they don't show up well on dark paper - doh! Luckily we also had some lighter coloured paper that saved the day.

There was cling film painting too in which the paint looked very malleable inviting fingers to squidge and prod to create some amazingly colourful designs - I am so annoyed that I didn't take any photos! We used a similar technique to the one shown here.

And the final organised activity was using some home made scraper boards. These are cards in which you can scratch out patterns using a scraper tool or cocktail stick. There are several ways to make these, here is a link to one suggestion.
